'Tilt & Turn' doors are inward opening with a dual function mechanism. The first turn of the handle through 90° allows the window/door to open inwards, but when the handle is turned through 180° the window/door will tilt inwards at the top to allow for free ventilation while still providing a very high degree of protection against weather. The same mechanism is used in the manufacture of a number of products:
Materials Manufactured from preservative treated laminated red pine. Unless specifically requested all laminated pine will also be finger jointed to reduce the incidence of knots and all timber used in manufacture will not exceed 12% moisture content. Available also in hardwoods including laminated larch, mahogany and oak. Finishes & Colours
Glazing Standard glazing is double sealed glass units with low-energy glass (minimum u value=1.4) Alternative glazing options are available to give increased insulation, high security, solar control or sound insulation. Glazing is internally beaded adding to the already high security level of this door type and toughened glazing will be fitted as required to both sides to comply with all Building Regulations. Further information is available from our specification section. Options A number of options are available including arched top windows and non standard shapes. Windows can also be made with two opening lights meeting in the middle without a fixed centre mullion giving a full width opening when both sashes are operated.
