Talented Perth Skier - Christmas Arrives Early

Christmas arrived early for one of Perthshire’s young sporting talents on Saturday, 15 December 2007, when ten-year-old Fraser Buchan was presented with two pairs of top-of-the-range Atomic racing skis by local company, Broxwood Limited.

The skis were sourced in Austria and shipped to the UK especially for Fraser by Olav Skretteberg, Managing Director of Perth-based bespoke timber windows and doors company, Broxwood.  An avid skier himself, Mr Skretteberg was keen to support Fraser in a way that might advance his clear talent and encourage his ongoing success in the sport.

On handing over the new skis, Mr. Skretteberg said: “Broxwood Limited is delighted to back Fraser. He has already accomplished a great deal in his sport at such a young age and he is a positive role model for other junior skiers. It is vital that he receives plenty of support to help his ongoing development and boost his chances of positive achievement in the future. We hope these new state-of-the-art racing skis will help give him that extra edge over the competition and we wish him the best of luck for a successful season in 2008 and beyond.”

The High School of Dundee pupil now has his sights set high for the new 2007/8 season and, having completed on-hill training with the FAST camp (Focus Alpine Scottish Training) during the Easter break, he hopes for a top five place at the British Championships in Meribel in April. Young Fraser’s ultimate goal for the future is of course to represent his country competitively having been selected by the Scottish and GB squads.
