Lynne Set For Runaway Success

For the fourth year running, Broxwood’s very own Lynne McAulay took to the road to raise money for charity, this time for Walk With Me who were raising funds for hair-loss prevention technology- 'cool caps' - at Perth Royal Infirmary's Oncology Day Unit.

Lynne Set For Runaway SuccessThe 2010 Ignis Asset Management Women’s 10k Run took place on Sunday 09 May in Glasgow. The route, which started and finished in Bellahouston Park on the South side of the city, passed through the Maxwell Park and Pollok Park areas making it one of the most scenic road races in the UK.

Over 13,000 women took part in the 2010 event, and this year Lynne and her team mate, Anne Smith, joined the throng of other like-minded women in achieving their admirable goal.

Lynne, who trained hard in preparation for this challenging event, said: “This year Anne and I ran for Walk With Me and we would like to thank everyone for their sponsorship and words of encouragement! At the end of the day we managed to raise over £250 which we are very proud of.”

Up until now 'cool caps', which contain silicone chilled by a refrigerator system and fit snugly on to a patient's head reduce almost inevitable hair loss, have not been an option at Perth Royal Infirmary's new oncology unit. With the funds raised by Lynne and Ann and other like minded people enough money was raised to buy one cool cap which costs around £9200. Lynne and Ann warmed up for their run by completing a 6km walk for the Walk With Me charity at Scone Palace in Perth on the 2nd of May.

Broxwood Managing Director, Olav Skretteberg, said: “Everyone at Broxwood is very proud of Lynne’s determination and success with the 10k event."

Anyone still keen to support Lynne and Anne will find sponsorship details on the Walk With Me website fundraising page at www.walkwithme2010.co.uk .
